Infection Spreads to Canada

I downloaded this clip off the internet from a Canadian news feed. The infection seems to begin innocently enough, until it claims your life, at least temporarily.

The news anchor seems to be coming down with it while broadcasting...

Desperate Times, Difficult Choices

I had to kill another survivor today, based upon two confirmed reports by trusted fellow survivors who have shared their safehouse with me. I have shared space with these good folks for several weeks without incident. We have even discussed ideals and had disagreements amongst us over the role govenment ought to play in Malton (if any!)

It gave me no pleasure to take this person's life, yet I heard myself, high on an adrenal rush, proclaiming my successful kill to my comrades and celebrating the event (!) And why not? With so little left to celebrate - why not celebrate the demise of an individual who increased the suffering experienced by those he encountered. Why not celebrate a respite from the threat of one more degenerate PK'er? Perhaps a moment of celebration is in order.

But now, once the surge of adrenalin has passed, I can't help but think "There but for the grace of God go I..." This unfortunate individual was embittered and angry. We have all lost contact with our friends and family during this time of crisis, or lost them altogether. The only thing we cannot afford to lose is the hope that sustains our will to live and help those around us survive.

Did this PK'er have to die? To protect the living, I believe that I did what was necessary, and I would do so again if necessary. All life has value. Please join me in a moment of silence to honour the life of one considered worthless (even though we know better).

...and if you dare, pray that the hopeless find hope in the chaos around us.

Perimeter Reports

Directive:
Based upon the results of FJ-One's scouting mission, all militia scouts are to hold their positions, seek ammunition, firearms and supplies before proceeding with their respective missions.

Current mission standings:
NW scouting: complete - perimeter extremely hostile
SW scouting: 75% complete
SE scouting: 75% complete
NE scouting: 50% complete

Other noteworthy items:
* FJ-One has reported in - recovered from Undead attacks and securing a NW position
* Limited militia recruitment efforts are being met with resistance and suspicion

Militia members are to provide aid and assistance to all survivors as a matter of policy and mission objectives. This continued practice will eventually convince the citizenry of our noble intentions to serve, protect, and restore order to the streets of Malton.

Northwest scouting mission successful...sort of

Good news - and bad news:

M.U.M. scout Codename FJ-One has successfully scouted the Northwest quadrant of Malton. He reports that the entire area is in an advanced state of urban decay, heavily populated by the Undead, with very little else worth reporting. The Undead he encountered were mostly wandering loners with no major zombie hordes present. FJ had found the going treacherous, especially in Dakerstown where he had fallen several times traveling from one icy rooftop to another. Overall, it appears that a small group of well-armed militia members could secure the area with minimal risk.

Now the bad news - FJ had been sending video over his camera-phone when he appears to have been attacked. We have had no further contact from him for over 48 hours, and must assume the worst. The following footage was our last contact from him:

Objectives of The M.U.M.

1) Establish the Perimeter
Secure the city limits and borders of Malton, preventing the spread of infection and the Undead to neighbouring communities, while ensuring that more infected individuals and roaming zombies cannot enter from neighbouring suburbs.

2) Cleanse the City of Infection
Exterminate the Undead, burning the corpses together with any other deceased citizens who have not risen from death. The safety and shelter of the surviving citizens of Malton, while remaining of equal priority to this objective, will be considered of secondary importance in the event that providing safety and shelter at any given time will circumvent efforts to eliminate the primary threat of infection.

3) Restore and Maintain Order
Which will include (but may not be limited to) the following specifics:
a) distribution of supplies (food, weaponry, medicine, etc)
b) providing basic governance and policing for the survivors
c) monitoring all frequencies and making preparations to assist and cooperate with federal emergency agencies and/or the military

To this end:
Recruits to the Malton Urban Militia will be enlisted and deployed to assist with efforts to scout and secure strategic border points along the city's perimeter. The M.U.M. is prepared to form coalitions with other organized benevolent survivor organizations and militia groups. Have your commanding officer contact acting commander Mayor MC Cheese at verbotenzone@privatentrance.f2s.com to register your group as a M.U.M. coalition member organization.

Warning:
Infiltrators from rebel agencies, PKers, and other contacts who actively oppose M.U.M. objectives will be tried for treason, and face summary execution at the discretion of Militia members.
Due to the extreme circumstances we face, an actual trial, court-martial, or clearance from a Militia commander
prior to execution of a traitor may not be a viable option and WILL NOT be required.

It Takes a Village to Raise a City of the Dead

Throughout recorded history, from the Tower of Babel to the Trojan Horse, to the Allied effort in World War II, one inescapable truth resounds: Unity leads to victory. Singularity of purpose is the factor which has been present at the turning tides of all great battles, and the battle to reclaim the streets of Malton will be no different. We may lack the strength afforded by great numbers, we may possess only limited resources, and many of our number have only limited military experience. Dare I say, our militia does not even have the most charismatic leader of all time. Whatever we may lack, there is no substitute for loyalty and common purpose.
Stand together for your city.

The Formation of The Malton Urban Militia

I am Milhouse Carter Cheese, a 64 year old Vietnam veteran and survivor of the outbreak of infection and the walking dead that now populate the streets of the city of Malton. I was defeated in Malton's last municipal election by the incumbent (whom I now believe to be deceased - or undead) On January 21st, I have declared myself to be mayor of Malton, in the hopes that doing so will lead to the restoration of order to a community in crisis and chaos.

Together with other survivors, we are forming a coalition of the willing - a volunteer army known as The Malton Urban Militia. As I speak, members of the M.U.M. have been dispatched to scout strategic locales throughout the city. Stay tuned to 28.29 MHz for regular broadcasts and updates, and visit our information center regularly for updates on the progress of the M.U.M.

I am an idealistic man, and I still believe in the inherent goodness of man toward his brother. Although altruistic by nature, as mayor I am keenly aware that desperate measures are required to salvage and protect our community, which will at times necessitate preclusion of a humanitarian agenda.

Rebels and other enemies of society (PKers - you know who you are) - I implore you to stand down and co-operate with the M.U.M. for the good of your community at large.
